Linking strategies are constantly changing, especially if you are insistent on playing the Google game. Last week I talked about shooting the Penguin Update down, and talked about how I focus on direct traffic sources rather than SEO.  Some people still don’t get it, and probably never will.

If you choose to ignore my advice, that’s okay with me. It means less competition for some of my best link building spots (since they do nothing for SEO, most people ignore them…) and I will continue to build and grow my brand while you continue to struggle, wishing you could succeed and blaming everyone else except the one person truly responsible for your lack of success.

Your Traffic Strategy Needs an Upgrade!

The Google Blog Network Massacre – Blog Networks Deindexed

If you’re anything like me then you love to keep your finger on the pulse of the affiliate marketing and SEO world. Just like you probably watch the 6pm news broadcast on TV, you should keep up to date with SEO current events. The biggest headline story this week has to be the deindexing of blog networks by Google.

Thousands have been affected by Google either partially or completely removing entire blog networks. When Google removes a website from its index, any outgoing links automatically become null and void. Also, it doesn’t look very good if a big portion of your links come from services that Google dislikes. ….

Creating Content Strategies Vs Link Building Strategies

One of the key essentials that I learned during my time at Blog Success was to creating content strategies rather than just a link building strategy. This saved my bacon more than once, and I will continue to leverage content and bend the web to my will.

However, one thing you need to realize is that a content strategy isn’t JUST about the content on your site. It is about creating awesome content that people share, and placing that content in key locations around the web.  Make sure you listen to the show, so that you really understand this.

There are several key elements to creating compelling content for your blogs. Where you place your content and when you publish it is as important as what you have to say, and how you say it. It all comes down to learning how to leverage your competition to grab new leads, sales and exposure in your niche.

If you really want to understand this, check out this Bending the Web by Jack Humphreys.

Does this really work?

Well, my own experience tells me that it does, and I am not alone. My friend Abhi Balani recently won the Blog Engage guest posting contest with his article on How he got over 380 blog comments on a guest post.  In order to win both of those contests, he had to engage heavily and use some of these content strategies himself.

My friend, the always delightful Holly Jahangiri also got involved and she shared all her contest winning strategies in her post. They both did an awesome job on their posts, as well as Justin Germino with his post on Blog Commenting. All 3 had to deploy an amazing content strategy in order to pull off their accomplishments.

Link Baiting Is Not Evil….It Is Essential!

Link bating gets a lot of negative press for some reason, but if you really want to get real for a minute, link baiting is what Google WANTS to see, so why wouldn’t you want to do it? This sentiment is shared by some top bloggers around the web, and if you really want to keep things going, you should think about how it would affect your brand…

I Confess, Every Blog Post I’ve Ever Written is Link-Bait

instead of disagreeing with all the poo-pooers out there that cry foul with every new “list post,” or “name-drop post,” or “Google post” ever written—I’m going bluntly give my take on the matter by making a confession to all of you, my faithful readers. Here goes:

Every post I’ve ever written is link bait.

There. I said it. You may all hate my guts now and move to the next blog.

But for those of you that would like to continue reading, let’s get real for a minute….
